Rescuing Bula: A Tale of Hope for Endangered African Wildlife

Welcome to the inspiring journey of Bula, a beacon of hope amidst the challenges facing endangered African wildlife. Bula’s rescue and rehabilitation exemplify the dedication of Saving the Survivors to African wildlife conservation through wildlife rescue efforts in Africa.

The Plight of Endangered African Wildlife

Endangered African Wildlife: A Critical Conservation Challenge

Across the vast landscapes of Africa, countless species teeter on the brink of extinction due to various threats, including poaching, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict. At Saving the Survivors, we are committed to addressing these challenges head-on through our African wildlife conservation initiatives.

Bula’s Orphaned Journey

Wildlife Rescue Africa: Bula’s Call for Help

Bula’s story begins with a heartbreaking reality—a vulnerable Rhino calf left orphaned in the wilderness. His mother was of advanced age and was unable to produce milk, leaving her calf undernourished and later she sadly passed away from natural causes. The urgency of Bula’s situation prompted our team to mobilise quickly, embarking on a wildlife rescue mission to save Bula from further harm and provide him with the care he desperately needed.

Bula’s Care and Rehabilitation

Providing Sanctuary for Endangered Species

Dr. Johan oversaw Bula’s capture and transfer to HSEC and upon arrival at the sanctuary, Bula was welcomed into a nurturing environment designed to meet his unique needs. Our team of dedicated experts, including veterinarians and caregivers, worked tirelessly to provide Bula with round-the-clock care, ensuring his physical and emotional well-being. Our Veterinary assistant “Dot” who is a Rhino Orphan specialist became Bula’s main carer and his new mom for the first weeks until we were confident to leave him in the care of the sanctuary staff who continue to look after him. Bull is now settled and thriving at the sanctuary where he will stay until he is capable of returning to the wild.
