A Heartwarming Rescue: Elephant and Calf in South Africa
Our dedicated founder and lead veterinarian, Dr. Johan Marais, recently led a life-saving intervention to assist an elephant cow and her calf on a South African reserve. The mission, carried out under challenging conditions with strong winds, showcased the resilience and expertise of our team in protecting wildlife.
The cow’s tracking collar, which provides critical data for managing the reserve, was malfunctioning and needed urgent attention. Darting the cow and her young calf was no easy task under the circumstances, but with care and precision, our team corrected the collar and ensured both the cow and calf were healthy before reuniting them with their herd.
“This mission was a reminder of how every detail, from collars to herd health, plays a vital role in conservation,” said Dr. Johan.
