A Progress Update On Thembi The White Rhino Cow
Dr Johan from Saving The Survivors attended to Thembi, the adult White Rhino cow with a young calf again recently.
She was poached in 2010 and due to various circumstances, was never treated, until the STS team were called in late during 2017. If you would like to support Thembi and her road to recovery, please visit our website
Our previous treatment was during August this year, and unfortunately her wound did not look that well then. However, she responded well to the last treatment and her wound looks much better. This morning she and her calf was immobilised from the helicopter, her face was cleaned, treated and covered with Elephant skin which will act as a bandage to allow for better healing. The White Rhino cow and her calf were woken up simultaneously so that they re-united immediately.
Thanks to the attending vet Dr Ryan as well as the reserve staff for their incredible support.
