Bula’s Journey
In the heart of our wildlife haven, a 7-month-old Rhino Calf named Bula began a journey that has touched the hearts of many. Orphaned and facing the challenges of life without his mother, Bula’s story unfolded under the watchful care of our dedicated team and the incredible bond formed with our Rhino Orphan specialist, Dot.
Bula’s initial days were marked by the tragic loss of his mother, an old cow who could no longer provide the nourishment he needed. In response to the urgent call, our team, in collaboration with HESC, swiftly moved into action. Dot, armed with expertise and compassion, became Bula’s guiding light.
From the first moments of rescue to the present, your unwavering support has been the driving force behind Bula’s journey. It is the generosity of our incredible supporters that enables us to respond to these calls for help, ensuring that orphaned wildlife like Bula receives the care they so desperately need.
Dot, along with our esteemed veterinary team led by Dr. Johan and Dr. Peter Rodgers, worked tirelessly to nurture Bula back to health. From assessing his needs to creating a safe space for him to thrive, the collaborative effort of our team and the support of our donors have been instrumental.
The journey wasn’t without its heartwarming milestones. Dot’s attentive care has seen Bula through playful mud baths, mischievous springtime frolics, and even a protest against afternoon naps—all captured in delightful videos that showcase the resilience, joy, and individual personalities of our beloved wildlife.
