Curly’s Journey and the Miracle of New Life
We are overjoyed to share a story of incredible resilience, healing, and hope – one that reminds us why we do what we do, and why your support means everything.
In July 2024, a female rhino we now know as Curly was found in the aftermath of a brutal poaching incident. She had suffered horrific injuries but, thanks to rapid intervention and the unwavering dedication of the Saving the Survivors veterinary team, Curly was given a second chance. Through advanced medical treatment and long-term care, she not only survived—she healed.
Now, in a truly remarkable turn of events, Curly has just given birth to a healthy calf. 🦏💚
This moment is so much more than a birth—it’s a powerful symbol of what’s possible when we come together to fight for wildlife. The successful reproduction of a once critically injured rhino is living proof that saving one life can change the future for an entire species.
The photo you see here captures just a glimpse of this emotional journey. To witness the full story—from Curly’s rescue to the joyful arrival of her calf—we invite you to watch the video now live on our social media channels.
To our supporters: this is your victory, too. Your donations made Curly’s rescue possible. They made her healing possible. And now, they’ve made this new life possible.
We’ll be sharing more adorable photos and updates over the coming weeks, so be sure to follow us on social media for the latest from the field.
Together, we are saving the survivors—and giving them a future. 🐾
