Mission Success: Matriarch’s Collar Restored!
At Saving the Survivors, we are committed to supporting conservation efforts and ensuring the safety of Africa’s iconic wildlife. Our latest intervention involved assisting the matriarch of a large Elephant herd after her GPS collar’s solar panel flipped upside down, preventing it from charging properly.
Over seven months, the battery drained to 67%, limiting our ability to track her herd’s movements and conservation impact. A decision was made to intervene, and our team swiftly mobilised.
During the procedure, the matriarch unfortunately went down in a challenging position—on her chest and downhill—putting pressure on her lungs and making her vulnerable. Acting quickly, our expert team corrected and cleaned the collar, ensuring it was properly aligned for maximum efficiency. Within minutes, she was safely revived and reunited with her herd.
Thanks to this intervention, the Rouxcel collar reached 100% charge within five months, allowing for continued monitoring and protection of her herd.
This mission is a testament to how Saving the Survivors supports private conservation initiatives and protects endangered species.
Thank you to our team and supporters for making this possible!
