STS to be working with Flying for Freedom
STS are proud to be working with Tokkie Botes from Flying for Freedom. He and the Flying for Freedom team do not do the glamorous wildlife jobs – they collect forensic evidence from carcasses in the hope that the evidence can lead to arrests.
Tokkie and his team try to gather and catalogue as much evidence as possible from every rhino poaching crime scene. Not nearly as “sexy” as CSI Las Vegas but effective and thorough nonetheless. They find the carcasses from the air and then land and start the work. It’s a tough job especially when animals are in an advanced stage of decay….the insects and the smell can be extremely unpleasant. But somebody has to do it and hopefully these animals will lead to some discovery and hopefully arrests will follow.
